How Dr. Hutchinson Got her Hook

Dr. Hutchinson ( who later married Filburt and mothered his children) was
a character created as a result of a press conference.

I was asked by a reporter why there were no positive female role models on Rocko.
"Well" I said "There are no positive male role models either". But I couldn't dodge
it that easily. Later, one of the female executives from Nickelodeon
said that we must have a strong female character in the show, for the sake
of woman. I asked her what kind of character she had in mind? She said;
"You know, a professional woman, someone with
a good hook".

Now, I knew she was using a term that is used in
entertainment about a "hook" being a personality trait
that "hooks" the viewers. But, out of sheer defiance,
I created (I believe with the help of Doug Lawrence)
Dr. Hutchinson, and gave her... well..... a hook.

Even though her birth may have been shrouded
in odd intentions, I , and the directors, grew to
love her, and the show where she marries
Filburt is one of my all time favorites. 'Kay?
